We had a fantastic day today in CIT at the Sciath na Scol Hurling Final. It was almost a decade since a boys team from Rathpeacon had reached the hurling final. The team did a fabulous job to get that far in the competition and boy, did they do us proud out on the pitch today!
We got off to a nervy start and Ballinora pulled ahead in the first couple of minutes but fair play to our boys, they worked hard and kept plugging away and gradually got our own scores on the board. We were right back in it coming up to half time.
The Rathpeacon supporters were in full voice for the entire match! A huge effort was made with teddies, face paints, flags, pom-poms, banners etc – you name it, we had it! The fans gave great positive support and encouragement to the boys on the pitch. Their chanting, singing and cheering were definitely a massive boost!
We stayed right on the heels of Ballinora but we never quite managed to catch them. We kept the pressure on right to the final whistle which is a great indication of the quality and calibre of player we had out there on the field today. It wasn’t to be our day but we are still extremely proud of the team who performed so well today and really gave it their all! Well done boys!
