You may be aware that our main school building suffered extensive damage during the icy weather at the start of January. In the early hours of January 11th, pipes burst in the attics causing serious water damage as you can see in the photos below:

Ceilings in four classrooms collapsed. The water that fell also destroyed much of the classroom contents and the classroom floors. The corridors and SEN rooms were also affected badly. It was a blessing in disguise that the school was closed, that nobody was injured and that repairs could begin almost immediately.
A team of building contractors has been appointed by the Department of Education and Skills and they have been working at the school since Wednesday 12th. Come back to the school website to see photos of the fantastic progress that they have been making!
All of the work being done is bringing the main school building up to current standards in terms of insulation, fire safety and technology. If all goes according to plan we will have a fully refurbished, fully redecorated school building that will be like new when the Government reopens our schools!
