We entered two boys teams in the FAI 5 a side competition this year.

Our Navy team put in some fantastic performances but lost their first two matches. In their third match, they took part in an absolute classic. They emerged 4-3 winners thanks to our magical striker from 5th class. This truely was the match of the day!

Our Sky Blue team sailed through the Group Phase, beating Gaelscoil An Ghort Álainn, St Colman’s Fermoy and Clondrohid  NS. In the Semi-final they dispatched Bweeng NS on a scoreline of 4-0. They went on to comfortably win the final against Glantane NS on a scoreline of 3-1.

They now on to Round 2 in Carrigaline FC next Thursday, 19th of Marchwith a place in the Cork County Finals in Turner’s Cross at stake!

We also entered two girls teams into the FAI 5 a side competition this year. Despite having limited experience in playing soccer, the girls demonstrated some fantastic skills.

Our Navy team drew two group matches and were unlucky to lose their third match on a scoreline of 2-1. Had they won this match they would have made the semi-finals.

Our Sky-Blue team won their 3 group matches in style. Unfortunately, they came up against a very strong Whitechurch in the semi-final and their dreams were dashed on a scoreline of 2-0.

It was great to field two teams in this soccer tournament and hopefully next year we will go all the way!
